The flight to Barcelona was fine. It’s just me and The Husband on this leg. The others went to Jordan and we were chicken hearted fraidy cats so we didn’t go with. When we landed my bug repellent was confiscated. I told the nice lady if I got West Nile virus it would be her fault. Then we passed a sign that said monkey pox was on the rise. I wonder if we should have gone to Jordan.
My last and only other trip to Spain we were told we’d love the tapas. Tapas, tapas, tapas.

We tried the tapas. Child fist-sized balls of cod. Tried it again. Lots of fried things and more cod balls. We avoided the cod balls last night but still had a strange medley of mushrooms and shrimp.
I’m having a hard time understanding tapas. Also bidets but that’s for another time.
In other news, my Fitbit is messing with my head. It refuses to reset to local time and says I got 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep. The gal who was awake from midnight till 3am would disagree. It also gave me a warning that I needed to take a break after I walked 11 steps during the night. I’d toss it but it makes a good beacon in the night to get me to the restroom and seated on the toilet and not sideways on the bidet reaching for an empty wall where the toilet paper should be (as happened to my friend).

Day 2 begins. We are taking a half day tour of the city with a guide named David. Afterwards he said he’s going to show us where to get some good tapas.

The pooping statues depict what will happen if you eat undercooked tapas.

We are thinking of visiting Barcelona in late autumn. We are late 60’s in age. Spouse will have a wheelchair. We would love to explore the city without car. (We spent a week in Rome 6 months ago with wheelchair and all those cobblestones!)
So, we would are looking for ideas and suggestions. We heard that Barcelona is over-touristed, and that is a small concern.
Love to hear your feedback:)
Thanks so much.

I couldn’t have loved Barcelona more. We were there in February and I didn’t find the tourist population overwhelming at all. There have been reports of locals behaving badly toward tourists but we didn’t experience that. My husband is early 70s and I’m early 60s. We walked nearly everywhere, even to Sagrada Familia from our hotel near the sea wall. It would be hard for me to speak to wheelchair accessibility because I wasn’t paying attention in that regard but I would say it’s more accessible than Paris if you’ve been there. There were nice sidewalks leading up to Gaudi’s places that weren’t cobblestones. It is a really beautiful city. I hope you’re able to go.

Much thanks for your positive review. We have been to Rome five times over the past 11 years, so we know how busy these big European cities can be. It is nice of you to share your experience. Thank you.
