I’m Gonna Miss October 2. No, Really. (Aussie trip, Days 1-Who the Hell Knows)

“It starts with the wine”.

This was a reference to something on our upcoming itinerary as we sat in the airport lounge during our seven hour layover in LAX. It often starts with the wine with this group.

Lovely, yes?

I learned from my trip last year with the Aussies they say “lovely” a lot. Just now the flight attendant* told me my breakfast choice was lovely.

*He introduced himself as our “Customer Service Manager”. He looks like Alan Cummings, the actor so here is Alan Cummings, the actor, for your visual reference.

As I write it is October 1. When I land in Melbourne it will be October 3. Oh, the fun I could’ve had on October 2.

If only…

Missing October 2 matters because I have a 2759 day streak on Duolingo which ends the minute I enter this time-space continuum. I am at peace with this because I hate Lily and Oscar and Lin. If you know you know. Fellow Duo-Heads: Are you with me?

That’s freakin’ Junior at the bottom.
Hate him, too.

Packing became a community event. I texted our group to say the golf courses will require us to wear socks that cover our ankles (and preferably the whole shin). Later, Princess texted to say the Sydney Opera House requires a very specific footwear that cannot show toes. This prompted:

Yep. Caught the accent in line at the airport. Aussie anklets.

The Melbourne weather report for October 1 had a “Grazier Warning”. Apparently they watch for wet and cold weather as it can be deadly for the sheep.

That was October 1. When we land on October 3 it will be 66°F and 100% chance of rain. I’m sure October 2 would have had lovely weather.

If only…

This is Cap. All of these bags are his. It’s disgusting.
