Oh, Paris

Oh, Paris. Where the toilets are free and the language familiar. It’s not home but it sure feels that way. 

Our flight was early with a 5:00am wake up call. It was no use feeling sorry for ourselves as The Others had been awake since midnight.

This is to make The Others jealous:

We flew AirEgypt from Cairo to Paris. I certainly won’t miss the Egyptian airports where I’ve been now five times. On board the plane—I kid you not—they edited a Hallmark Christmas movie because nothing says scandalous like a Hallmark movie. 

This is for Mikey, a movie I watched on board and a reminder of our birthday gift to him:

Today is my wedding anniversary. Twenty-nine years with this man of mine. We’ve gone through the impossible with our boys, now men. We’ve learned to ballroom dance and golf together. We’ve run a marathon and vacationed for miles on bicycles. We’ve done yoga and Body Pump (remember Body Pump?). All these years of being active and I hope there are so many more. But as the days and nights began to spin I know we’re closing in on the twilight. Listen, I’m only 62 but one never knows. I’ve haven’t lived a charmed life always but I’ve led a happy one with him by my side. He’s called The Husband, in my blog, Papi by his grandkids, Dad to our children and their wives. I call him Honey when I’m happy and sometimes when I’m mad. But 29 years ago I said, yes, David, I do. And I’d do it all again. Happy anniversary, mon cheri. Paris is only enchanting because you are here.
