It’s not every day your pillow talk opens with, “Today when I pet the koala…” but such was the case yesterday.
All the husbands golfed yesterday at a course called The Victoria Club. The girls decided to go to a wildlife sanctuary called Moonlit, just south of Melbourne. Driver Rob made all the arrangements for us.

Our Princess and Travel Mom has been sick since yesterday so she didn’t join us. We’re mostly functioning without her (Cap did leave his phone in the van twice) but we’re like a jet with one engine: it can land but it’s not easy.
At Moonlit Sanctuary, we saw a wombat on entry and a few cool birds.

Then we made a beeline for the kangaroos. A large kangaroo named Nelson wouldn’t even look at us but five minutes later we caught him wooing a crowd.

Rob had arranged for us each to pet a koala, placing lanyards on our neck so we would be koalafied to go inside the roped area to wait our turn.
Reg, the koala “on the clock” when we got there, would look straight at the camera and ham it up until the eucalyptus branches were nearly gone then he would focus on his handler with an outstretched hand. “I’m here to get paid,” I imagined him saying.

Being so close to Reg was a thrill. I know it looks like I’m just standing there and he’s ignoring me but I’m here to tell you, we had a profound connection.

We (minus Cap and Princess) met Malibu and Beela at Sherlock Holmes for dinner last night. They happen to be in Melbourne on a tour. Beela had possum gloves and The Husband was wearing his possum sweater. Truly, he could’ve come here with a Dopp kit and a shoe bag and left everything else at home. This sweater is now his identity.
Hoping Princess feels better today. She’s hulled up in her room trying to recover but she’s still Travel Mom.

Oh, how you made me laugh! I got to pet a koala named Pebbles, but we did not have a profoundconnection. Glad you are having an amazing time!❤️Sent from my iPadOn Oct 5, 2026,

Nothing thrills me more than wildlife. Loving these “pet” encounters.

Now I know how AI is going to kill us all. It starts innocently enough, with cute photos of koala bears and kangaroos. That’s how it lulls us into complacency. But before you know it, the koala bears and kangaroos will have taken over the world.
I like the title of your post, by the way.

Yes, AI is a rabbit hole for sure. Everyone I’ve shared the pics with tells me to take the koala home so I felt I had to do the car scene. The kangaroo holding a martini glass was an obvious choice. If I hadn’t put the disclaimer there, no one would have known it was AI.

I think you prompted that title. I give you credit.
