Just another day in Paris-dise

What a great time we are having. Au contraire to conventional wisdom, Parisians are very nice people. They are especially pleasant if they know that you respect their language and their culture. We decided to go to lunch today at a Mexican restaurant along La Seine river on the right bank. We walked there and took the bus home, stopping along the way for the requisite baguette, fresh produce from a street vendor, groceries and…a few wrong turns. We rode the bus which did not feel entirely intuitive but those on board adopted us and showed us the way home. I even had an elderly woman on a bridge crossing the Seine stumble upon a man’s gold wedding ring try to give it to me for a souvenir when I told her what good luck she had just had!

  1. It looks like you are having a great time! I am completely jealous of everything except the flu! I am sure your older lady was on the up and up, but I have heard that pickpockets use the gold ring to lure you in…

    1. Oh my! I looked it up and you are right! This is a gypsy scam! Only what I learned is that the ring is worthless but if you take it they then ask you for some money for food. Darn. Just when I was starting to be enchanted with the goodness of mankind…

  2. Alison, Cynthia shared your blog, and I’m so glad you’re blogging your adventure! I’m very jealous that you’re living in France, but excited to hear more! 🙂
