The Characters
The Husband: While generally adoring, not remotely likable when playing games, especially if there is money involved.
Scott: Engineer who only half jokingly says after calculus and trigonometry, took a class called ‘Introduction to God’.
Me: Affable and dynamic (my blog, my characters) not good at golf but damn lucky and recently awarded three red roses—count them THREE– for winning 3-days of competitive golf.

The Story
“What are you doing?” The husband asks me as I sulk in the corner of our couch.
“Calling upon a higher power,”
We had just spent the better part of an hour arguing about a golf bet in which I said he owed me $5 and he claimed he owed me only $2. We were playing a dollar per hole and I beat him by five holes.* I know. Should not require a referee but, there we were.
My higher power was Scott (he had, after all, been introduced to God). When he came back with a disturbing conclusion

I remembered the birthday card Scott and his hateful wife gave me. He was never going to rule in my favor.

In what world do you get a dollar for beating the pulse out of someone on the golf course? I continued to argue—trying a Napoleonic war tactic of asking him if he had to do *summer school, but my higher power was unyielding

So the answer to my question…In what world… the answer was right there in front of me.

*Footnotes: There were other players and a combination of 9 sets of match play partners which The Husband and Scott seem to think bears meaning.
Scott never answered the summer school question.
Sounds like you need to find new people to play golf with. LOL! Love the card. Math was my undoing in school.

Yes that’s how I became a business major ‘cause you definitely don’t need math to run a business?!

LOL! Now you know why I majored in political science and minored in history. Got as far away from math class as was humanly possible.

if you had just told me the answer you were looking for I could have tried some creative accounting to get there!

Math is supposed to be a SCIENCE. Forget summer school, did you even go to college?
